The Hat Chick is Proud to Support SIRE
The mission of SIRE is to provide a community where horses help people with disabilities and challenges to live their best life.
SIRE was founded in the Houston area in 1983 and has been recognized by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH) as a Premier Accredited Center since 1989. In 2000, SIRE merged with another center near George Bush Intercontinental Airport, bringing services to Spring, The Woodlands, and northeast Harris County. Our southwest location started in 2006 and moved to the Richmond State Supported Living Center in 2012. In 2020, we merged our Hockley location with our Spring and Richmond locations. In 2021 we relocated from the Richmond area and purchased our forever home in Fulshear, TX.
SIRE has grown from serving a few clients each week in borrowed facilities to an internationally accredited organization serving almost 300 individuals and numerous groups like veterans, children-at-risk and more. The equine-assisted learning programs provided at SIRE meet the needs of individuals who live with social, emotional, physical, or mental disabilities. Individuals participating in these programs reside in eight counties in the Houston metropolitan and outlying areas, with the majority residing in Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties.
The cost to provide this level of personalized programs is $5,200 per client, per year. For each individual this tuition — which encompasses 32 one-hour sessions — is subsidized by generous community support, and 20 percent of the riders qualify for additional financial aid based on need. For SIRE to continue to serve these riders, we need your support.
